WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
My full name's Anja Anita Ursula. The last two names are from my two grandmothers. "Anja" was just something my parents decided on, eventually.

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
Last friday, I remember exactly. Because another job application was turned down ;_;

3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
Sometines, when I put an effort in it. There are some small details I'm proud of, like how I write numbers.

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?
Mhhh ... I prefer beef over pork, but chicken's OK too.

5. DO YOU HAVE KIDS?
Not yet. But one day, I will have kids :)

6. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON, WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?
Nope. I'm really hard to handle, I think it would be too much effort to put into.

7. DO YOU USE SARCASM?
Ohhhhhhyes. I wouldn't be able to stand Life if it wasn't for sarcasm.

8. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?
Yes, they're both very well behaved and not causing any trouble.

9. But I love to try out "new" creations, too (like, Coca Cola ice cream?! or Candy ice cream and so on).

14. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?
If they have an interesting, unique personality. Not sure

42. FAVORITE SOUND(S):
Thunderstorms and rain, Leonard's voice

43. WHOSE ANSWERS ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK?
From everybody.

48. HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR SPOUSE/SIGNIFICANT OTHER?
Is there someone like this in this world? I sure as hell want to meet him, then XD

True Power is Female!

I chose this entry's title to unite two seemingly different topics in one.
However, united under the topic "True Power is Female", I think they work out, though.

First off:

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 ・Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu)
I only got around to give this anime a second chance after season 2 was "suddenly airing" (or rather, it came sudden for me).
I think I watches the "first" episode the first time this anime was aired (for those of you who know the show: The "Mikuru-chan" amateur video thing Haruhi and her SOS-dan shot, though chronologically it would've been a later episode). Never mind that, though, I'll come to the timeline of that anime later.

Anyway, with sesaon 2 being fansubbed and whatnot, I decided to give the anime a second chance. I didn't get all too excited the first time and thought 'just screw it'.
Little did I know, oh boy.
For once the hype around "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu" was well justified. Albeit the anime is seemingly your typical build-up of now ever-so-annoying cliché anime characters, the undertones, the hidden details, the snide remarks, the well-made animation all add up to one awesome show. I even go so far as to say this anime can be compared to "Neon Genesis Evangelion". Not in story, but in brillinacy, refering here to the two main characters and the fact that whoever pulled this anime off actually did have the "courage" to air the episodes all scrambled up, totally unchronologically (which does have a reason, btw).

And it damn worked!. How can such a thing work?! when you have a male main character (Kyon) who is even below your average school student, adding to the show neither with striking looks nor any kind of special power?! All he does is giving off sarcastic remarks with a lethargy and lack of enthusiasm that is almost painful.
But hell, it works. It works for me too. And I love, love, love Kyon and Haruhi. Haruhi reminds me so much of myself; a girl who wants the most out of life and whose believes and ideas are so strong, they quite literally materialize before her. Haruhi's a girl who cares in her own ways but who is unable to express her feelings. And in Kyon you finally have a character who acts as a normal male human being would act, without over-dramatizing stuff, without sudden emotionals outbreaks that annoy me so much in most animes.

The mix of those two characters, along with the rest of the crew and a brilliant animation, lovely directing and a powerful soundtrack sure does put this anime on the list of "10 best animes since the new millenium" (or anything along these lines).

Second:

Developement is female - Women in India
I saw this documentary film about Women's power in India on TV this week and I was very much moved and amazed by it. The Andheri-Hilfe Bonn helps women in poor villages in India to overcome injustices and supports them to re-gain their rights and power. With small investments, the Andheri-Hilfe helped to abolish temple prostitution, re-fertilized the land with making water-ways (and thus brought back many villagers from the slums of the city). They helped the women to form groups, and these groups handle everything from "grain banks", giving credits, building water-ways, organising villages, etc.

It was amazing so see what these freed women could do! Once forced to prostitution, raped and abused by men, they now handle every vital organisation and bring their land back to life. Under the Women Councils, the villages prosper, the land brings fruit and all children, be it boys or girls, receive education.

If there's an organisation out there that I will glady donate money to, it'll be for these projects.

In any case! This entry is for Gemma, though she doesn't even know I blog ^^;. But it's for her anyway ♥.

JJ Abrams VS Star Trek

All right guys, this wanna-be Trekki's back from the newest Star Trek movie.
Directed by JJ Abrams.
Featuring "Heroes"'s mass murder psychopath.
Yeah.

The bad stuff:

- Kirk: Overdrawn, terribly bad written character. You cannot tell to me that Starfleet as it was established in 5 TV series and 10 movies would ever reward a character like that, leave alone let him command one of their finest vessels. This young version of James T. Kirk was a mass-conglomeration of cliché-work and exaggerated rebellion that went beyond what the Star Trek universe can accept as their Captains.

- Kirk, again: Chris Whats-his-name was not the actor to be casted as young Kirk. He has a face that I, personally, could watch on cinema screens 10 hours+ and would still not be able to remember afterwards. The actor had none of William Shatners character and presence. Okay, this was about the young Kirk who would yet have to grow up and develop a certain "aura" if you will, but there was still so much lacking. JJ worked with so many brilliant, young, talented, yet widely unknown actors in his TV shows - why didn't he bring in one of them?

- JJ vs. Science. Communication before black holes. 80mph car races and certain stunts afterwards. JJ versus time traveling! ARGH!. There were so many mistakes in this movie ... And the ones I listed here are the ones an average girl with a fashion design education could spot. Now let my brother who studies Space and Aircraft Science see this movie ...I don't wanna begin to imagine what list he'll bring on.

- Uniform. First: the colors. Science and medical is blue! All right? Not: "all guys on bridge are blue". And then red. Or black. Or blue again. Ugh! Zero points for whoever came up with that. Be it a bunch of Starfleet recruits or not, there's gotta be a color scheme to this, at least after they changed clothes when they were ordered to the Enterprise.
Second: The design. Dear people, please! those are Starfleet Official Uniforms. Not your academy homewear department. Thin raglan shirts with pipings as the sole decoration in microfiber sportswear style (in blue! XD)? Oh dear Goddess of all that's design...

- Romulans. With tribal tattoos. And this is all I have to say to that.

- Haha, funny -,-*. Mostly horrible attempts of comic relieve. Spock says "fascinating" when a chair turns 'round automatically? Yes. Sure.

- Where did Canon go? - Blew up Vulcan. Killed Spock's mom. Oh, and blew up Romulus too. All this puts the existing canon into the trash can. But then again, there will be a sequel, so that matter's still open to discussion I guess. (what with JJ and his obsessions with time traveling lately ...)

The good stuff:

+ Spock: Fantastic casting for the young Spock. Zachary played brilliantly. Also very well written character. Very canon, very credible also in favor of his later actions and behavior.

+ Leonard Nimoy. ♥ ♥ ♥

+ Core crew. Bones, Sulu, Chekov were really very much OK too. Scotty ... was a border case.

+ Vessel design: Veeeeery nice design, IMHO. They managed to melt the original 60s design with the new, 21st century design to a credible display of the Enterprise.

+ Tech. Technical and other Trek-specific terms and their use thereof was OK as far as I can tell. Good work on the translation [into German], too.

+ Vulcan... ...and her inhabitants were nicely done. The landscape, the people, the outfit designs; especially the school and other architecture shown in the movie.

The can't-decide-stuff:

-/+ Uhura. First, I thought she was too pretty for that role. Then she gradually grew in my favor and I don't exactly know what I'm supposed to think about her and Spock (the fangirl in me goes one way, the Trekki and canon-bitch the other way).

-/+ Cpt. Pine. Only character worthy to be called a Starfleet vessel captain in this movie. But then again, he probably was the only character with a mental age over 20. And then again that wasn't probably what it was all about, now was it.

Summa summarum? - It was a movie for the masses. Not for Trekkis. But we saw that coming, didn't we.

Rec-Time, folks, yabba-dabba-doo XD!

I was just skimming through some MTV music videos I have on my hard drive. And I felt like I should share at least two of them with you for now, beacuse they're just awesome, funny, one even artistic in a way.

The first one is:
Genesis - I can't dance
Phil Collins playing the fool, and damn he plays that so well. I saw this on a music channel on TV the other week and had to laugh so hard! If a band that famous who issued albums like The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway can still make fun of themselves like that, then kuuuuudos.

<lj-embed id="3" />
</lj-embed>

Number two is:
Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice
It's all about Christopher Walken. Really. The mere presence of that guy in this video ... wow. I don't think I need to say more.

<lj-embed id="4" />
</lj-embed>

All right folks, that's all for now! There might be REM in the next entry, along with some more fashion stuff ;).

Stuff that rocks. 'Nuff said.

High time for an update, I believe.
What with me posting more or less random stuff in the last entries, now's the moment for more of the real deal.

~~~~♥♣♥~~~~
First off, movie recs!
There are two Japanese movies I've watched during the last two weeks, and albeit the occassions on which I stumbled upon them was both times absolutely different, I enjoyed watching them for equally different reasons nevertheless:
Casshern
Casshern is a 2004 life-action movie derivated from the anime series with the same name from 1973. (actually, there's a 2008 sequel running right now, valled "Casshern: Sins" - check it out too if you like, it's got an interesting animation and sophisticated storyline). Anyway, back to the movie's plot (I'm a bit lazy right now, so you'll get what the guys over at IMDB wrote already):
"In the future, in a polluted post-apocalyptic society called Eurasia after a war against Europe, the planet is devastated by the effect of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. The geneticist Dr. Azuma (Akira Terao) develops a technique called "neo-cell", capable of regenerating the body of human beings, sponsored by an evil corporation. His son Tetsuya Azuma (Yusuke Iseya) dies in the war, but after an accident in the laboratory of Dr. Azuma, Tetsuya revives as the powerful warrior Casshern, while a new breed of mutants called "neo-humans" is generated in the plant. The neo-humans decide to annihilate the humans and raise a new world."
I was mentioning impressionistic features in the Lj-cut, so here's what is actually so fascinating about the movie:
It's the visuals.
The scenes are more painted than anythin; with actors, set, CGs and effects all melting into each other like a poem.
It's hard to explain, so maybe I should let images speak for themselves:
*
*
*
*
*
*
Also! Please have the trailer if you like :):
Trailer @ IMDB.com
Detroit Metal City:
Again, this is a manga-based movie and the anime-version of it is running at Japanese TV as well.
Also again, synopsis by IMDB *coughs* (what?! It's NCIS in half an hour!):
"Soichi Negishi moved to Tokyo to chase his dream of becoming a musician playing stylish, Swedish-style pop. Instead, he finds himself leading the death metal band Detroit Metal City, or DMC, as the costumed and grotesquely made-up "demon emperor" Johannes Krauser II. Although he hates the role and the things he has to do as a member of the band, he has a definite talent for it. Adapted from the hit Japanese comic book by Kiminori Wakasugi, the movie follows Negishi's antics as he tries to reconcile the two very different sides of his life and find out what it really means to achieve his dream."
Okay, why is it so gorgeuos?
One, because Matsuyama Keinichi can act (for once, ohdeargodthankyou), and two because this movie is just great fun. I laughed SO hard, it was just hilarous XD.
Why Bully, btw? (oh, and sorry Mishy, Bully is a very famous German comedian >,<*). Beacuse our Soichi looks exactly like Bully as Mr Spuck in "(T)Raumschiff Surprise!!!!!!!!!eleven1111111one". Gaaaahahahaha, that just cracks me up XD!
Here's eye-candy :):
*
*
*
*
*
~~~~♥♣♥~~~~

Second! Fandom!

Still high in my head: Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii version).
I'm through now with the game and I enjoyed it very, very much. If you guys ever need a rec for an Action RPG on Wii: Zelda. Defenitely.
I've heard from various sources and folks now that Zelda's really the best choice, not only for the mere genre-factor, but as a Wii-game in general.

Pros:
- Control. In many, many different ways, they took advantage of the Wii remote control. 'Course, swinging your sword when swinging the RC might be standard by now. But by doing combos and using a ton more of weaponary and other tools, it doesn't get boring at all. Use the pointer to aim when you have weapons that can aim (like bow and arrows), use a kind of lock-in to keep the enemy always in fromt of you and in sight.

- Gameplay. You get into the gameplay pretty easily. For me personally, it's a good thing that you can learn combos, but most of the time you don't </i>have</i> to use them <strike>but shake your Wii control madly and pretty much uncontrolled until Link busted all the enemies*coughs*</strike>.
You can also use Link's POV to look around and change camera angles. Pretty neat feature, but a bit time-consuming sometimes.

- Story. Beautiful, beautiful main plot! The characters, too, are gorgeous (except maybe one or two standard-cliché charas which I, personally, am never too happy to meet over and over and over in every game/anime/manga....).
But! Midna, WTF. *_______*
I was surprised how long the story was. That is, how many hours of gaming flow into onlythe main storyline. When I first came to the castle, I was expecting the end boss already, thinking: 'Okay, yeah, I expected that much game time, so that's cool.'. Ha! No way! I was maybe only one quarter through the game then x_X;.

- Sidequests. There are some sidequests and minigames you can do to gain money, heart pieces (health/HP) and to upgrade your inventory. Except for two that last through the whole game if you like (collectiong glow bugs & ghost souls), they're rather short to play. But you'll always benefit from them.

- THIS GAME HAS A MAJOR OTP! XD XD XD *lol*

Cons:
- Graphic. For me as a graphic-and-story-sucker, that was a bit of a reason to shed a tear. The movie sequences weren't any better than the gameplay graphic. Okay, I can understand that one might has to sacrifice something for the sophisticated gameplay, but it was a bit of a pain anyway. You know, with PS3 and the likes right next to the Wii ... one is kinda spoilt for high-end rendering...
Here are some pictures on IGN.com

- Control. Yes, there's a bit of bitchin' around here too. Okay, might be a personal thing. My brother usually had to kill the dungeons' end bosses because I wouldn't be able to handle the controls so fast. For every end-boss in the dungeon, there's a special weapon that you obtained earlier on during your exploration of the dungeon. So you have to use that weapon/skill to kill him and for a person like me, who is still new to the fact that one can constantly change the POV, the camera angle, etc. I was never able to handle the control fast enough.

- The end. Not an option, this ending. Certainly NOT. Needs doujinshi. Now.

~~~~
Otherland.
Orlando x Sam.
Always.
♥
Book three made me fling the whole thing in a corner, cursing Tad Williams and being very, very pissed in general.
Book four has me thinking again.
Anyway! Yes! I did manage it! I wrote Fiction :D! Hooray!
I will post it here sooner or later, I'm only missing the very last and very meaningful sentence x__X.
~~~~♥♣♥~~~~

On a more personal, every-day life note:
School'll start again on monday. It's gonna be peachy, I hope, because I worked a good deal during the holidays. There was more stuff I wanted to accomplish, but I was a bit chained to the Wii, so..... Yeah, I know it's not an excuse ~.~.
They'll lock us into the basement-computer-rooms from 8AM to 5PM for the week, calling it 'project week', yeahsuuuuure. That's gonna suck >,<*.

I'm sending out job applications now, too. So keep your fingers crossed for me, yes? :).
The stats say, I'll either end up in Bavaria or New York City XD.
Come visit me in any case!!!!

Okay, now it's NCIS time (new eps, WTF, Zivaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ♥)

FOR THE LULZ!

Okay, erh, this entry is gonna be mushy and not-very-much-my-style in its whole, but I think I have to say this to you guys.

This is adressed to the ones I talked to last week.

You, my friends, are the bestest guys in the world..

As you might know, I'm not the terribly emotional kind of girl when it comes to Real Life, but even petty me has to spill the beans at times.
And everyone I talked to about you-know-what listened so well to me and were so kind and consoled me in your own ways and advised me in your own ways. And I can't tell how very grateful I am to be able to talk about st00pid RL and its obstacles and setbacks with you guys.

So, this to you with all my love ♥

Anja loves you XD!

PS: If Life ever wants to get inside you too much, I recommend these lines:

There's no religion but sex and music
There's no religion but sound and dancing
There's no religion but line and color
There's no religion but sacred trance
There's no religion but the endless ocean
There's no religion but the moon and stars
There's no religion but time and motion
There's no religion, just tribal scars
There's no religion but the joys of rhythm
There's no religion but the rites of Spring
There's no religion in the path of hate

No prayer but the one I sing"

What was the best book you read?
-- "Shadows Return" (by L. Flewlling), "Otherland: City of Golden Shadow" (by T. Williams)

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
-- A-Ha

28. What did you want and get?
-- A trip to Japan. Leonard live. What was your favorite film of this year?
-- "The Dark Knight", ... erh ... I can't remember more x_X;

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
-- I'm a fashion designer. I can wear anything I want. Also, layer-look, browns, blacks, reds, whites. Julie, too, and Marcel.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
-- My new flat mate, Isa. And - although I know those people for over two years now - some classmates of mine who I got closer to now.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
-- Trust people if they say they like you. Just trust them in that and don't always question it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
-- "I am colorblind." (in a very abstract way it sums up my year pretty much. I won't explain it, though.)

W. T. F ?!

Several ...erh, "disbalancing" matters have come up today that have resulted from me staying online for too long due to the fact that I am bored already. (did that make sense? Anyway, in short: Me. Holidays. Boring. -> Internet.)

One:
Shippuuden #89:
Kurenai is pregnant?! Woah. Cool. Cool as hell. She carries Asuma's child under her heart!
Love to you guys. Makes up for for the lame Sasuke-kills-straw-dummies-via-Chidori stand-in. Veeeeery clever -,-*.

Two:
Hetalia
There's gonna be an anime for "Hetalia" .. ?! Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
It'll air 29/01 and it's gonna be fansubbed by aarinfantasy! Oh the *LOL*-ness!
And, just to extend the fun, here's a bit about the seiyuu:
- Japan's gonna be dubbed by the guy who did Jounouchi in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and (WTF??!!) Hisoka in HunterXHunter ... x_X;
- Germany (*LOL*) is dubbed by the guy who also acts in Bleach and, erh, a lot of other animeds I can't place right now ^^;.
- AND! This is really the end of the line guys: PAKU ROMI DUBBS SWITZERLAND! Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh x_X;

Three:
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
Carly wants Jack Atlus' babies ....?! Gimme a break! There's a limit to how much I can take in YGO 5D's ^^;.

Sorry for the extreme randomness of this entry. XD

[/random].

I'm going to do this the old-fashioned, Japanese dorama way:

I am going to bake him cookies. Period.

In the vain hope he'll get the hint then *lol*.

Can't believe I actually begin to like this guy a bit more than I should. To hell with denial now, really.

Guys, ignore this entry, it's terribly kitchy. XD
But it feels nice. Now more than ever, knowing there's actually someon out there who just calls me out of the blue to talk about our dreams for the future.

Japan - REPORT! Osaka, Tokyo & Yokohama

Let's continue with Osaka, Tokyo and Yokohama ~ !

Osaka

... is where we spent one day running around, asking poor, startled people where the Mandarake is. Erh.
Osaka is - if you compare it to Kyoto and Nara - very loud, very young and very modern.
There's a part of the downtown city that's called "America-mura". You'll find tons and tons of extraordinary clothes shops there, small restaurants, bars and whatever else belongs to young life and nightlife.
In the end, we actually found the Mandarake (= manga/anime store), but it almost made us miss our bus to Tokyo x_X;.

Unfortunately, we only spent one day in Osaka and so I didn't see much more than a Manga shop from the inside and how my Okonomiyaki was made.

Tokyo

... began with the longest waiting time in my life and continued with the biggest event in my life. Heh.

Since we arrived via night-bus at 6:00AM, and were only allowed to check in to the youth hostel at 3:00PM, our first day in Tokyo turned out to be a fight against sleep, the desperate longing for a shower and the repeated worshipping of books and Starbucks as a blessed means to pass time.

However, when we could finally move into our room (which was a four-beds-room only, jackpot! Usually, the rooms in the YH house up to 8 people), we were pretty much awake again and set out for some dinner.

The YH facilities are located on the 18th and 19th floor of a tower building right on top of the Iidabashi station, a train stop in the Shinjuku-district. It is very very convenient, since you have access to various train lines that take you to about everywhere in Tokyo, as well as a nice shopping lane right on the other side of the street with kombini stores (super market), restaurants, drug stores, manga cafés, Starbucks and McDonald's. They even have a Book-Off! (you can get used books there, usually very cheap, and yes, that includes manga), but this one seemed to have a clear "no-BL-manga"-policy -,-*.

Day 1

However, the relaxing didn't take very long, no, not if you have to get up at 5:30AM to stand (sit) in a line for three hours, only to see your favourite doujinshi-ka on the 74th Summer Comic Market.

So - with the help of a Japanese friend, Comike Pro, really - we had all the necessary instructions we needed and could cozily join the other 150,000-and-something people that also waited for the gates of the Tokyo Big Sight to open at 10:00.

As annoying and hot as the waiting was, it did pay off. Albeit our hopes were almost crushed at the sight of so many people ahead of us, it turned out we were indeed one of the first to enter the halls and -yeeesssss- got to meet RAPAN-sama (H. Shizuku) *_________*! ♥
Himuro Shizuku-sama is the one doujinshi-ka that will always make my heart melt and whose art inspired me a lot and - for me - counts to the most aethetic ones I've ever seen. She does Yu-Gi-Oh, and now very recently Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's as well. My friend and I even talked a little with her! :heart:

After getting our RAPAN doujinshi and a really neat RAPAN-bag (w00t, I'm SO going to show off with that, muahahahaha!), we set off to hunt down a species of doujinshi-ka that we only stumbled upon after flipping through the Comic Market Catalogue
(which weighs 3kg [~ 6.6 lbs] and counts about 1400 pages...):
CSI, NCIS, Numb3rs, Supernatural, JAG, Star Trek and ER fans. Yup. They do have fan-comics to those topics (they also have doujinshi to German soccer leagues and Japanese train companies, but more about that later on).
I would've loved to bring some of those exemples back, but unfortunately, they were not very high quality and most of them were novels only. However, it was great fun to check out those 'fandoms' (they even have RPS doujin ... ! Bwaahahahahah!)

So, yeah, that was the first day of the Comic Market for us. Our feet hurt like hell, our arms gained length due to carrying around 3+ kilo of paper, but nothing could've been better XD!

By the way, day one covered doujinshi-ka for the following "fandoms":
- Manga (i.e. series that first showed up as manga, not as anime),
- Shônen Jump series (Naruto, One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, Hitman Reborn, etc.),
- Music
- TV shows.

And almost all of it was BL (YAOI) stuff! Yup.
And please keep in mind that I'm talking about doujinshi here. That means 200-and-something circles doing Hitman Reborn. Half a hall for your J-Pop-Slash needs. Any Naruto pairing you can think of. And so on, and so forth. :D

Day 2:

The next day was a bit more relaxing. We entered the "holy halls" at around 12:00PM and looked around for a bit for Kingdom Hearts and Digimon. And I actually got myself probably one of the best Digimon doujinshi right off the artist's desk, yeah :D~!

Day two was reserved for doujinshi covering the following topics:
- Games (anything software)
- Anime (i.e. where the anime was aired first, w/o a manga to be adapted from, like Code Geass, Digimon, Pokémon, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, etc.).

And yes, here came the hentai doujinshi. Hence about 90% more boys than on day one, *lol* ~.

Day 3:

...was the most relaxing day of all. Since this day was reserved for professional manga-ka who either sell doujinshi to their own series or any other fandom and any other fan-magazines you can think of (not only doujinshi but minor trade journals, also accessoires, dolls, etc.), my friend decided she'd stay in the YH and I met up with Mio alone. Mio is the "Comike-Pro" I mentioned a few lines back and since she knows several doujinshi-ka, she got super-cool VIP tickets that made us beeline happily around the already growing queues and enter the halls earlier.

Thus, Mio and I - both devoted fans of the popular BL manga-ka Kazuma Kodaka - were the very first ones to purchase Kodaka-sama's doujinshi (well, Mio did. I settled for her original manga later in the book store ^^;). But anyway, I got to talk a bit with Kodaka-sama, w00t! ♥ Mio actually told her, I'd come aaaaaalll the way from Germany only to see her *g*. XD

We called Katha and met up with her in Ikebukuro to follow Mio down to the "Otaku Road", a street where all the manga and anime shops are neatly lined up wall to wall, satisfying your every otaku need. They even had two whole stores only for BL Doujinshi! Heaven!!!!:worship:. I was palled with BL after that day then, really x_X.

As for the following days, we spent one of them for major!sightseeing, including the Asakusa Kanon Temple with its famous lampion and the "omiyage-road" (souvenir-road) that is located in front of the temple.

We took a walk through Ueno-koen, the Parc in the district of Ueno. It is - if I'm not mistaken - the largest parc in Tokyo. It has a lake that is in one part covered with some kind of huuuuge water plants. Very impressive!

We also went to Shibuya, Shinjuku and the Ginza to do a bit of window-shopping. On the Ginza is where you can find the Sony Building. On about 8 floors you can play around with Sony's newest "toys", such as cameras, Playstation, TVs and cell phones. Geez, that was fun XD ~

Our last full day, we spent in Yokohama. It takes about half an hour by train to get there and although the city of Yokohama and the city of Tokyo are now melted into each other, Yokohama with its seaside is starkly different from Tokyo downtown.
Yokohama has a very airy, spacial feeling. It has broad walkways, many trees along the streets and an overall international feeling.
Right beside the Sakuragichou station is a nice little amusement parc with one of the world's largest ferris wheel. I took a ride, and some photos ;).

And! We finally managed to see the Naruto Summer Movie in the cinemas in Yokohama :D! W00t! Geez, that was fun. Very fanservice-y, I must say. But it has a cute story and it has Sasuke in it. I believe that's all the average Naruto fangirl needs *coughs*.

All right, so that was my Japan this summer :). Hope you enjoyed this report a little.

Osaka

- A street in Osaka; actually, a common view in

Japan's cities, with all the illuminated signs.
- A stylized Kimono I found while passing by a church (?) on our

way back to the main station.
- The front of a house in Osaka's most colorful street at night.

Tokyo

Comic Market

- Tokyo Big Sight main entrance
- The area around the Big Sight
- FMA Cosplay
- Naruto Cosplay
- Pokémon Cosplay (with me too ^^;....)
- OTAKU ROAD HOORAY!
Japan - REPORT! Kyoto & Nara

Tadaima!

So I'm back from Japan and I promised a little report (or didn't I? ^^;)

I won't annoy you with too much talk, though, don't worry ;). Just a quick overview.

Let's start with Kyoto.

The city might be large, but in comparison with Osaka or Tokyo, it still has a very comfy, old feeling. There, more than in any other (central) Japanese city, you see the traditional Japan on display. Kyoto consists as much of modern buildings as of old, wooden facades and - of course! - temples and shrines.
So that was what my friend and I had been doing most of the time - visiting temples, shrines, ancient Shôgun houses and the beautiful surroundings of those facilities.

Every temple/shrine in Japan has a spacial area around it with a garden or at least some trees. It always feels very peaceful and quiet in there.
Since the old buildings only exist of wood, they burnt down various times during the past, but were errected again. So most of them are around 500 years old.
What's especially amazing is the paintings on the sliding doors. Famous artists of the time were invited to paint them. Also, the smell of incense in the religious buildings and the beautifully carved wooden statutes of the Gods are impressive! The sculptores at that time were really skillfull.

We've also been to the "Geisha Quarters" - Gion. If you've seen the movie "Memories of a Geisha" - that's where the movie played. There, you have the best and broadest selection of traditional Japanese arts, like fan-making, the dying and painting of kimonos, the manufacturing of geta shoes, etc.

For something more modern, one defenitely has to explore the Kyoto Eki (Kyoto Main Station). It's a huuuuuuge building that not only houses the train tracks, but also various cafés and a giant department store. Its architecture is amazing! Very light, open, bright and intriguingly creative. You can well spend half a day only in the eki.

One-day tour to Nara:

Nara is about one hour away from Kyoto (by local train). The city itself isn't very large, but it contains one of the most famous temple districts in all of Japan. Along with several huge shrines, you can also find the Tôdaiji, the big temple that houses a huuuuge metal Buddha statue.
Also, there is the "holy deer". They run around freely in that district and you can buy food to feed them. Though they will snatch the food away from you as soon as they can, so be careful ;)!

Okies! That's that for today. Before I'll continue with Osaka and Tokyo sometime this week, :

Kyoto:

- Garden view of a temple
- A little stone garden, very typical for old Japanese

temples/shrines
- A typical room of an old Shôgun house, with tatami spreads and

painted sliding doors.
- Those stones show little carvings of people, very old and faded

already but they get dressed nevertheless :).
- A road inside a shrine that leads up to booths that sell good-luck

charms and incense.
- The entry to a shrine
- And another one.
- A scene from inside a temple.
- Typical gardening
- And again.
- A pagoda hung with tons of lampions
- A typical Torii

- Kyoto Main Station
- Kyoto Main Station, again.

- The Kabuki theatre in Gion

Nara:

- The huge Buddha statue
- The Tôdaiji, the hall where the Buddha statue is housed
- A water basin where you wash your hands before prayer.
And the baffled old man was singing 'hallelujah'

Leonard Cohen concert on 25th of July in Lorrach, Germany.

It all started hours before, actually.

I arrived rather early for the concert - as planned - and since the city's downtown had nice shops and a comfortable shopping mall, I roamed a bit through the next season's fashion.

The stage where the concert would be was right in the middle of it all on the market square and some guys were already testing the mics and installing the instruments and so on. Nothing special, really.

So, coming out of the H&M and having the next shop in mind already at about 4PM (4 hours to the concert, plenty of time), there was music. Loud, proper, live music coming from the direction of the stage.
As I advanced vers the market square, the music turned out to be 'Dance me to the end of love'.
Leonard's song.

And there he was.
Complete with Sharon, the Webb Sisters and his band.

Leonard Cohen.

Dressed in a plain purple-blue shirt, an unremarkable vest of muted black and matching pants; a 60's style hat and sunglasses, and there he sang his song with the very voice that had been my guide and loving partner, the voice that had deepened and became rough over 40 years now and of which I know every little shade. And he stood there, right in front of me, and did his sound check.
Wow. I was transfixed, baffled, moved to tears!

Therefore, when the concert officially started at 8PM, the anticipation had ebbed away a bit and I could fully enjoy the moment.Leonard and his band, including the three lovely background vocals Sharon Robinson and the two Webb Sisters, emitted a feeling of harmonic togetherness. It was just seven men and three women in plain blacks snd whites, doing their stuff; playing the sax and guitars, the drums and organ, and Leonard sang his songs and it it was just beautiful.

It was more of a spiritual service to us than a concert (and yes, that was what Leonard called it, too: 'A spiritual journey'). You felt balanced, cozy, at ease, filled up with something sophisticated. And when Leonard sang his 'Hallelujah', I couldn't help but believe his every word, although I'm not a Christian. But, coming from him, it was like a blessing. Something holy and godly passing through him that touched me like nothing spiritual had ever touched me before.

When Leonard constantly introduced his band, he bowed to them and they bowed to him and then to the audience. Something Leonard must've brought down from Mt. Baldy. It was a great feeling of respect for each other and everyone on this stage was equal.

Leonard was really energetic for his 74 years, jumping around like a child sometimes, kneeling down as if in prayer, playing the guitar and the keyboard. I has happy to see him smile so much, knowing that he was moved by the fact that so many people came to see him. Him, this old man who can't even sing properly and makes songs since 1968 that nobody really understands. And all those people came from so many nations just to see him there.

So, yeah. That was it. My own personal spiritual journey :). I think I feel enlightened a lot.

Things going my way - and things that don't.

Yeah, all right, this is personal again. Bah, I'm so emo now -,-*

I shall start with the bad parts so I can end with the good ones and that'll leave everybody (including me) a little less annoyed, right?

Okay, for the bitching...

♣ I can't believe I'm having the same churning worries and jealousies I had a couple of years ago. Over the same persons. Ach! This annoys me to no end. I thought I was effing over this childishness, but no, trust Chisa to be a bitch in that. It's not so much that I care (because I won't need those guys to live my life) it's more that it doesn't come in handy at the moment, what with joint projects in the making and meeting up in summer and in October again. So what then? I act all right and uncaring and lie to her and myself all at once? Not a healthy decision. The other option? Bringing up the f*cking topic again and having the same tiring conversations about it?

Well, fuck that. I'm going to Kyoto anyway.

♣ I think I screwed up in the test today x_X. Not bad, not in a very mattering way, but I didn't do it as perfectly as I could have. According to my own plans, anyway. This sucks. I know exactly what I had done wrong, I even knew it during the test, so why didn't I change it? Yeah, right, no answer to that one, either. My mind was all warped and occupied and I was too worried, I guess.

♣ Something ... too personal to write down that makes me laugh hysterically, talk to myself and bang my head against various inanimate objects most of the time.

~ ♠~

Now! For the good parts. Heh.

♥ Things in school are going pretty nice so far. Most of my tests went all right. Although they seem to want to test our time management as well as responding to stressy situations, all went within expected parameters. Four more to go, w00t!

♥ E-mailing with a friend, I hit the world of Bandslash, yeah, hehe. Well. I'm going to be initiated properly in August, she promised. Haven't written anything yet, only listening to some of the guys. Apart from that, it feels really great to write with someone who shares a wavelength with oneself, discussing things other people would maybe look rather scandalized at.

♥ Going out on a drink with a fellow classmate made me unexpectedly hope that there are indeed some brains in this school, after all. School is great, it's fun, but most of the folks there are out of the question if it should come to any intelligent conversations. Sca though, she's cool.

♥ dsudis's Numb3rs fanfiction Missing Persons is now officially posted and finished. Boy, that was nerve-wracking at times! But yes, it all went well, after all :). Dira did such thorough research on hard-facts as well as characters that although the story is spiked with every warning available to fandom, it is with no doubt one of the best fiction I read in years. All the details and character-analysys ... Just wow. Kudos.

♥ Avatar-Marathon on NICK this week! First (actually) new ep, 03x16, blew my mind. Katara. Zuko. Only. Yep. It's probably as good as it gets for us Zutarians, but what the hell. This ep kind of showed that, yes, they got the mail, and yes, they recognize the sheer numbers of Zutarians. Nyahaha. Fanservice.

♥ Look! It's more good parts than it's bad parts, hooray!

...then we took Berlin!

I've been to Berlin for two days, visiting my friend and dear cosplay partner.

Berlin is - very much contrary to my expectations - a breathtaking city. It has a beloved international feeling about it, something I somehow didn't expect. I thought it would be much more hostile, dirty and unfriendly, or gloomy with depressing German war history.
In fact, Berlin is rather welcoming, unique, well organised (subway, signs, ...) and has many large and small treasures to discover.

Maybe it helps to have had a 'local guide', such as my friend (yeah, she knows where the Reichstag is and the large Anime store ;p).

Other than nice sightseeing, we've been shooting Cosplay photos of our Digimon 02 outfits, my as Yagami Taichi, and her as Ishida Yamato.

*

*

*

*

*

*

*

So, yeah, it's been two awesome days and I miss Berlin already. All other cities seem too small now.
Good thing it'll be Paris in June for 4 days. Ha XD

The Fierce and Royal Battle of Me against Vista

The Death Match had begun yesterday, at noon.

It was a single girl against a 2,2MgH Dual Core equipped personal computer, 1024 MB RAM, one HHD (!!! -,-*....3 hours of trying to partition it, no use. 1 victory to Vista), a 16x DVD RW drive, several dark, black card slots. And it is infected with the new super virus called 'Windows Vista'.

It took blood, spit, tears, swearing and the loss of thousands of innocent nerves (on the girls' side, mind you).
She was even close to consider Linux (no offense to Linux users).

In the end, though, she could muster the last ounce of strength against the new evil!software and defeat the desktop apereance to display the desired design (well, almost).

*sighs* - the battle is not yet fully won (it won't eat Nero. And the sound outro is stained.). Plus it needs at least one more DVD drive and another hdd would be nice as well.

At least I wiped the apereance clean off any fading, hopping, changing, popping, jumping kindergarten-like gimmicks that Vista comes with. And I don't need 2 (!!!!) clocks in my desktop either, thankyouverymuch x_X.

If anybody has a nice Windows 95 or 98 skin to fully overlay, please please please tell me, I would be endepted to you forever!
